MACSIM, Mid-Atlantic Colloquium of Studies in Meaning, the area semantics-pragmatics student conference was held at NYU on April 6. A lot of UD Linguistics and Cognitive Science Ph.D. students presented their research at MACSIM 8.
Dionysia Saratsli (co-authored with Stefan Bartell and Anna Papafragou, all UDel) gave a talk titled "Artificial language learning and the learnability of semantic distinctions: the case of evidentiality".
Stefan Bartell presented a poster titled "Effect of Indefinite Form on Donkey Anaphora Interpretation".
Jinwoo Jo and Bilge Palaz presented a poster titled "Licensing pseudo incorporation in Turkish".
Alyssa Kampa (co-authored with Kaja Jasińska and Anna Papafragou) presented a poster titled "Scalar implicature development in 4- and 5-year-olds is supported by the language and executive function networks".
Michael Donovan presented a poster titled "Uses of Oddball Imperatives".
Yue Ji (co-authored with Anna Papafragou) presented a poster titled "Boundedness in event and object cognition".
